greenhornet715 > A guy could save for months and then would hand over hundreds of bucks to the next guy going to Japan to pick up stereo equipment at the PX. It later would be shipped back to him. It had to be locked up in personal lockers so it wouldn't walk away. For 1969 this was the state of the art equipment that anyone would be proud of. It wasn't uncommon for the guy going to Japan would be buying for a lot of guys thus buying thousands of dollars worth of equipment. With big money in hand it was possible to wheel and deal with the seller. Many times the buyer would come home with his own stereo system that he didn't have to pay a dime for.
